Breaking the stereotype !
It’s NOT a WEIGHT LOSS transformation post. I’m aiming for MUSCLE & STRENGTH GAIN. And, though I’m not close to the transformation I m aiming for but I’m HIGHLIGHTING the things that have TRASFORMED in my fitness journey till now. Lot of myths & stereotypes were debunked in the past 12 weeks.
- FOOD : 1200 calories are neither good for FAT LOSS and definitely NOT for MUSCLE GAIN. Right diet is most important component of every fitness goal. As food intake increases, stamina and recovery increases, and so does your relationship with food.
- TRAINING : Resistance training is crucial for a strong and toned body. But It’s equally important to have a proper workout program to achieve your goals. And, also to learn and address faulty movements patterns.
- REST : More is not always better, and your body is complex- monitor the signals it’s sending you and then tailor your plan from there. 4 days a week workout can also help you reach your goals.
- CLARITY OF YOUR GOAL : Fat loss and muscle gains are two separate goals. To gain muscles body needs more fuel so you have to eat in surplus and vice versa. Both, can’t be done at the same time.
- RIGHT MENTOR : This can be a game changer. Not all coaches will have your best interest at heart. Some coaches will put you on a diet of ten year old to reach your aesthetic goals, even in the face of numerous red flags. Loss of menstrual cycle, increased obsession and phobia of food, impaired mental health, drastic drop in the quality of sleep, hair loss, avoiding social gatherings are a mere handful of red flags that your coach is not the right fit for you. A great mentor will create a sustainable diet chart for you. And, keeps you accountable in reaching your goals in a scientific way.
- PATIENCE : You cannot attain a body and fitness level of a athlete in twelve weeks. Muscle gain is a slow process. And, especially for a leaner frame women it’s much more slower so you have to be patient.
- YOUR TRIBE : All fitness goals come with some sacrifices. They are definitely not easy. Connecting with the right tribe of people who have similar goals, interests and journey like you is super motivating. They inspire & encourage you when you are going through moments of self doubt and criticism.
